Youth Infusion will facilitate collaboration with community partners, including educational institutions, businesses, government agencies, and other non-profit organizations, to ensure that youth participation and action are valued.
A society full of educated and empowered young people whose voices truly impact their communities and the world.
Youth Infusion was founded to give youth a voice, make them feel included, valued, heard, and feel like they are a part of a larger community. Our goal is to reach young people who are at-risk and struggling. Youth Infusion’s programming helps steer young people in the right direction where they are engaged and finding purpose. We provide youth with the skills, knowledge, resources and opportunities to set them on the right path so when they graduate, they don’t feel lost and feel confident in whatever they decide to do after graduation. We provide programming for youth that makes them feel that they are part of the solution in driving change and making a difference in today's world.
The School-based Service-learning provides an opportunity for classroom teachers to connect students with community resources so as to implement service-learning projects that extend beyond the classroom. According to the National Youth Leadership Council, service-learning is a teaching method that “integrates community service with academic study to enrich learning, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities.” It provides an opportunity for young people to become deeply engaged in addressing real community needs, while mastering the classroom content set forth by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The founders of Youth Infusion understand that a quality education must include opportunities for students to deeply engage in real world issues. They also believe that partnerships with schools are critical so that students are able to link what is learned in the classroom with high stakes public outcomes. Connecting with their community and conducting authentic and pragmatic projects gives students a sense of purpose, cultivates self reliance, and promotes sustained civic involvement. The School-based Service-learning Initiative is available to all schools in Northeast Pennsylvania.
