Our Trips for Kids Pocono Flow Programs Include:
Discovery Trail Rides
Youth Infusion, Trips for Kids Pocono Flow believes every kid in every community deserves the right to know the joy of riding a bike while enjoying the freedom to explore the natural world on two wheels. The Trips for Kids Pocono Flow Chapter was chartered in July 2010. Since then, Youth Infusion has been working steadily to launch its ride program, in partnership with the National Park Service, which incorporates personal challenges, physical activity, healthy snacks and environmental awareness. We take kids out on scenic, fun and safe riding adventures through gorgeous parks and natural areas.
Earn-a-Bike Workshops
Kids receive hands-on lessons in bike maintenance and bike safety, while gaining credits toward earning their very own bike. They complete projects together with peers and adult volunteer mentors.
More Gals on Bikes
Like many outdoor sports, cycling struggles with gender equality. We encourage and empower young girls to get on bikes and fall in love with the sport.
The primary goal is to increase both female leadership and ridership along with creating an inclusive atmosphere that provides a brave space and comfortable environment for youth to learn, gain new skills and have fun regardless of their gender.
Information you need to know before riding with us....
Youth of all ages and families are encouraged to participate.
Children under the age of 10 years old must be accompanied by a parent.
A waiver will need to be signed by an adult (18 years and older).
Healthy snacks and water are provided. Bikes and helmets are available for youth at no cost (on a first-come, first-served basis).
Either a Park Ranger or another environmental expert will share key information with riders about environmental issues as well as important key facts related to the each park.
The experience begins with an opening circle introduction followed by lessons on personal, bike-riding and trail safety, an equipment check, and then a pre-ride skills development session.
Our ride leaders will typically incorporate lessons into the ride experience such as identifying natural features like flora and fauna, history and geological highlights, and will occasionally stop the group to discuss other aspects of their shared experience.
Once the ride ends, everyone returns safely to the trailhead. The group forms another circle, and a debriefing discussion takes place, covering shared experiences, lessons learned, and “Aha!” moments.
Our trail rides are documented and pictures and/or videos will be taken. We will ask parents to sign a photo release form before each ride.

What is the Trips for Kids More Gals On Bikes (MGOB) Initiative?
The Trips for Kids More Gals On Bikes initiative was spearheaded by a group of the organization’s affiliate leaders who saw a need. The group formed a committee in March of 2021 with a primary goal to increase both female leadership and ridership along with creating an inclusive atmosphere that provides a brave space and comfortable environment for youth to learn, gain new skills and have fun regardless of their gender.
MGOB’S Mission
To increase participation of youth identifying as female by 10% each year.
MGOB’S Vision
We envision a world where there are equal opportunities for programs that offer empowerment, independence, and use the bicycle as a transformative tool for all participants to be equally successful.
What Our Organization is Trying to Achieve
For over 30 years, Trips for Kids has celebrated the consistent growth in our number of youth participants.
From our organization’s inception, we have strived to create equality in our bicycle programming, but a recent internal study shows that current percentages of participants by gender identification are not equal. Our most recent statistics revealed that only 35% of our participants identify as female, compared to 65% identifying as male. We have determined that extra focus must be made to include those not currently fully represented.
Studies continue to show that cultural change in all areas of a community is faster when the female population sees and believes in the change. Bringing more identifying females together into bicycling and leadership roles will help to grow the movement.
Our initial effort toward creating equality in gender participation is to actively invite and encourage those who identify as female to participate in a ride and/or Earn-a-Bike Workshop. Growing the number of girls and young women is critical to not only our organizational success, but also the future of bicycling.
Our initiative seeks to increase the identifying female participation levels by 10% by December 2022 and then by 10% each year thereafter throughout our current network of 50 chapters and affiliates.
