Kindness Covers is a youth-driven philanthropic program functioning under the non-profit organization, Youth Infusion, Inc. Kindness Covers was founded by Isabella Novak in 2018 (when she was 12-years-old) with a mission of creating fleece blankets to gift to those who would benefit from a little extra happiness, joy, kindness, or warmth in their life.
For the past few years, Kindness Covers has donated more than 550 blankets to members of our community and cancer patients in the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia.
Annually, Kindness Covers works with The Schyler Strong Foundation to raise funds, make blankets, and deliver a minimum of 50 handmade blankets to the Oncology Unit at CHOP in honor of Schyler Herman, who fought ALL and AML for a year before losing her battle on October 31st, 2018 at the young age of 15 years old. Kindness Covers had worked with Girl Scout Troops, Elementary Classes, Athletic Teams, Honor Society Students, and FBLA Clubs in order to teach area youth about philanthropy.
Through these group efforts, blankets have been distributed to CHOP, LVHN NICU, LVHN Bangor Infusion Center, The Dale Hughes Francis Cancer Center, Women's Resources of Monroe County, Family Promise of Monroe County, and Third Street Alliance. Individual Kindness Covers have been made and mailed to members of our community when facing a challenging recovery from a diagnosis or unique hardship.
Our slogan is, "Spreading Kindness Through the Warmth of Handmade Blankets." ~ Isabella Novak
These kiddos worked with Youth Infusion on a service-learning project. They worked so hard to engage over 50 of their peers and other kids during Global Youth Service Day and Earth Day and they finally completed the requirements of the Hershey Young Heroes grant!
Paige and Mia presented to 60 children at Knowlton Township Elementary School in Knowlton NJ about Kindness Covers and Hershey grant. Knowlton Fine Arts home schooling Cooperative 20 person class completed blankets as well.
Paige, Mia, Charlotte and Anthony showed other kids how to make these blankets and together, they made 18 Kindness Covers (warm blankets) and chose Women's Resources of Monroe County, Inc. As the organization they wanted to donate to.
Thank you The Hershey Company and Youth Service America for this opportunity. It was such an amazing experience for everyone involved.
We are so proud of them!
